i need to know the effective response dose for in vivo exposure, but i could not choose the suitable doses, thus i don't like to make a preliminary study ( i have some details for in vivo exposure to the same substance but for one ther species , any advice please?? thanks!

The dose levels will depend on the route of exposure. If you use the oral route, it would be helpful to know how the test species, i.e. rat, handles the test material. Is it absorbed orally; is it metabolized? If you lack that information, the standard practice is conduct of a range-finding study in the test species with the actual test material. A short-term study by the selected route of exposure at multiple doses, covering a wide range in mg/kg/day, for 7 or 14 days is a good start. The high dose should be below the oral LD50, and the lower doses should be multiples below the high dose: i.e. 1/2 LD50, 1/4LD50, 1/8LD50, 1/16 LD50. Based on the resulfs of the RF study of the range-finding study, you can estimate the dose for a longer study. Again, the pharmacokinetic information will inform your decisions.,

i'm using marine mussel as in vivo model, i found that my desired substance which is an inhibitor of a signaling pathway, used for another specie which is an estuarine snail so the main differences that i remarked the difference of the medium (marine & estuarine) the second thing the size of the animal (mussels are leger), so any help please? thanks in advance,
