Could Rayleigh-Ritz method be used for vibration analysis of Forced vibrations? For example in forced vibration of a plate under general time varying loads.
Rayleigh-Ritz method is the transformation of coordinates, where the transformation matrix consists of a series of linearly independent vectors. Actually, these vectors are Ritz shapes. One can get the exact eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a system, if the number of Ritz shapes (vectors) is equal to the number of DOF of the analyzed system.
This method can be applied to forced vibration cases. The Rayleigh–Ritz method has seen a lot of developments over time. Kindly find the attached papers for more. One of them is a recent review paper, which discuss this method in detail.
