Homogeneity and isotropy are attributed to dark energy. Moreover, some authors suggest that dark energy is consistent over time. Those characteristics are consistent with the perfect cosmological principle: that the universe is isotropic and homogeneous (at large scales) over space and time. The perfect cosmological principle implies a steady state theory.

Acceleration due to dark energy will cause the universe to be asymptotic to the de Sitter model in the future (negligible matter density) but that is not the case now, nor in the past, so the state is not "steady".
If you meant a "static universe" rather than steady state, dark energy at the right level can balance gravity (as Einstein intended when he introduced the Cosmological Constant) but it is in unstable equilibrium so would rapidly collapse.
Neither model is vaguely like what we observe.
Dark energy can not revive the steady state nor static universe. Dark energy does not exist. Studies like SDSS etc are a waste of resources looking for nothing in the dark.
The SDSS is looking for DE n deep space, yet if the physics of relativity and special relativity are correct, and it is, then DE would be here as much as it is there. And speaking of homogenous and isotropic baryonic matter, if DE existed and is the 'cause' of such, it would certainly exist everywhere the same as baryonic matter which is how/isotropic everywhere.

Dark energy is an inherent energy of space which is a constant ammout of energy per unit volume. It is a repulsive energy under the influence of which space expands. As more space is created more dark energy comes into play (remember it is an inherent property of space) which leads to more repulsion. This total process has a snowballing effect leading to what is an "accelerated expansion" of the universe. It has little to do with steady state theory, except the fact that original motivation of introducing cosmological constant was to resist gravitational collapse.
