Hi all, I am writing my PhD thesis dissertation and I have recently come to wonder what is that allows individuals to interact, create common narratives/discourses which then impact on existing structures or lead to the institutionalisation of new ones over time. My point of view is that language is the key instrument, but I must admit that I haven't come across a social theory that would explain this. I didn't need such a theoretical focus until now. Moreover, I might be missing something, i.e. there might be other 'instruments' that allow the creation of shared discourses. I need some references which I could use to explore the topic. If any of you can think of relevant studies/references, I would appreciate it.
