Dr Murali , it is a very intelligent question .  And I must appreciate you for posing this very pertinent question . Biofertilizers are basically carrier-based formulations having variety of microbes . Role of additives will simply be  pivotal with regard to efficacy as well shelf life of microbes in any biofertilizer . Additives will play like an adsorbent for those effective microbes. but , phytosanitary aspects needs to be evaluated before such additives are given green signal.

I think 3D - Printing will influence every sector of business as every major industrial improvement.

Therefore it wont be the question if but how.

Thank you Drs. Srivastava and Antoun and Markus Haag and Biranchi Panda for your responses. Will go through the Modern Meadow to know what kind of biomaterials they are making for 3D printing work.

For pizza printing they use powdered and semi-solid liquid materials followed by printing the pizza on hot plate. If appropriate liquid media and live bacterial cultures in powdered form are used, there is a possibility for developing 3 D printing for biofertilizers. 3D printing machine based vending systems can be placed in rural areas for farmers to access biofertilizers whenever they want. This could help them to have freshly 'brewed' biofertilizers that will be free from contaminants and low inoculant counts which are common issues with currently available bioformulations. It is also possible to integrate nano carriers and other additives into this system as imentioned by  by Dr. Antoun and Srivastava.

This appears feasable, but I am not convinced that an actual 3D printing process would be superior to a simple mixing step for the preparation of a biofertilizer. 

Thanks Julian,  immediately after I posted the thought  it struck me that a coffee machine also can work. After all it too mixes coffee powder with hot water or milk. You are right, 3D printing need not be superior to simple mixing.  But perhaps, those who work with 3D printers could throw light if it has any significant advantage.
