Can we add copyright free images in our manuscript.
Recently one of my article reviewer advised to add images.
I google and learned it is possible but copyright free.
I add.
Article accepted.
Now publisher query " Regarding the figures, although these are found online readily enough, please provide the reference of the original site for this image rather than off an image website as the figure in fact may be copyrighted at the original source. "
I tried to find the original source.
Not able to find.
Can any body can help me regarding the answer?

If it is a schematic diagram, you may redraw the same by yourself. If it is other images, citation or obtaining copyright is mandatory. The website URL can be added in the reference list and can be cited in the figure caption.

Now Publishers wants permission from original owner. I tried to track but failed.
