Does any body know what is the minimum time after submission to first editorial response? I have submitted this ". Confirmatory Factor Analysis the Malay Version of Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) Inventory with Medical Students of Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia; submitted in North American Journal of Medical Sciences (Manuscript ID: North_Am_J_Med_Sci_84_17), April 5, 2017". What should I do? I have emailed Journal people and also through journal website no less than 20 times. Even registered letter to Journal Office in Canada. No response.

Its depend on journal to journal but most of the journals are give response within 4 months even some Indian journals took too more time up to 12-18 months like IJPHS (personal exp) ...you can write final email to them if they not respond then you are going to withdraw your paper later you can submit some where else...or you need to wait..good luck sir

From my experience, the average waiting time is three months. However it depends on the publisher where some publishers act very fast while some are not.
Dear sir, just send another email, if they do not respond, withdraw your manuscript and send it to another journal. Also, you can ask the journal - before sending your manuscript - about the response period or see that in the site of the journal.

Hi Actially there is no criteria as such for waiting . If u r not getting any reply since so long , just write to the editor and withdraw the article . I think you have waited enough time now and can go for some other journal

There is no fixed time. It varies from journal to journal and also the availability of their reviewers. Some reputed journals take 6 months to 1 year to publish an article. So you can either wait or withdraw your paper. It's your decision. Good luck.
From my point of view, you should wait for some time because some journals do take up to a year to get a review from a reviewer. But it is up to the writer to either wait or withdraw the paper. But i do hope you can wait because i think your paper is still under review.
From my experience with Medknow Journals, the manuscript takes about a year to get published, that is from submission to acceptance (if accepted about 6 months) and another 6 months from acceptance to publication. Good luck!
