How do I copy an image from a PDF file, and us it in ppt/word and still maintain the quality of the image. When I take a snapshot of the image from PDF and paste it in word, they look smudgy? Is there any solution for this?
I have a Windows 7 laptop with a 'Snipping Tool'. This allows me to cut any part of the stuff on my screen as an image. I can then go to PPT or Word & paste it in.
* If the original image is poor quality, you will not improve it unless you use a specialist programme like Photoshop to 'boost' the pixel resolution (see: http://www.howtogeek.com/105952/3-simple-ways-to-improve-low-resolution-images-and-typography/ )
* Photo editing programmes can be expensive, but Adobe give a 30 day free trial of all their products. You basically set up an account using your email ... & off you go for 30 days. It will then expire (unless you buy the product), but you can always get another 30 day trial using a different email ;-) (see: http://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/buy/students.html )
* Low resolution web images may look fine on screen, but will not look so good if you are going to print them or show them on a larger screen.
* 300ppi is a good resolution for printing an image. You can change the image resolution in a range of Office programmes. (see: https://officesmart.wordpress.com/2012/05/08/how-to-change-the-resolution-of-a-picture-in-office-programs/ )
* You can set the resolution for exporting a PPT slide as an image. I often make journal article illustrations using PPT, them save (export) them as an image which I insert into the Word document. (see: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/827745 )
