Is there a way out to find out who has read my research article, if so can i request them to cite my article. There have been about 400 reads to one of my publications of last year till date, but none is citing it...............i need help ?
Chandranand - you may well have had reads - but they do not automatically transfer to citations. No - you can't request that those readers cite your work. That can only occur if they have read, it informs their research - and they are willing to include it in their publication. Remember that, on average, it takes around 12-18 months (or more) for someone to read your work and then incorporate it into a publication.
All reads accounted for your publications do not necessarily imply that they are really important for readers. This is common for you, me, and others as well. One could hit your publication(s) due to numerous reasons. For example, to check whether your research is relevant to their ongoing research, whether your publication could give them new insights to start a fresh research, whether your research could improve their knowledge (but they actually do not intend to write papers), or even they could view your publication mistakenly, and this list could expand further. Therefore, the readers will only cite your publications if they find their relevance and importance. This takes time. You need patience. No need to make requests, instead take time to make quality publications and improve their visibility.
Well, you are able to see researchers who read your article/paper/preprint... See attached image for a hint. Next, be aware that privacy settings may play "huge" role regarding reads activity...
