Olatunji, although I do not think this is what you are actually asking, some of my work on psychology and mental health itemises the role of economics in treatments-that diagnosis (there are new mental illnesses discovered each month) encourages economic processes that can be viewed within paradigms of economic growth. This would also fit physical illnesses in that one successful form of treatment might be replaced by another form that requires technical assistance, for example, and greater specialisation. While many new treatments increase efficacy an equal number simply meet patient expectations.
Reading the same phenomena within Psychology and Economics is quite interesting. You can certain see different vantage points (e.g., "rational self-interest," "freakonomics"). In many ways the fields inform each other rather than being in a controversy (e.g., behavioral finance, decision-making). I'm personally not familiar with any neural networks of economic behavior, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are some. Historically, you might consider Herb Simon's research designing artificial intelligence (AI) to understand the psychological processes underlying discovery, and earning a Nobel Prize in Economics for some of this work. Olatunji, as human beings can exist on a subsistence ecinomy then other factors have to be at work. Gold for example in the old world was a promoter of status and social division. Its quualities of sun like gloss and rarity made it a driver of wealth. Many early civilisations blossomed through gold(*I find this all very strange, but obviously the process is based on mental attributes not real ones)
