I have an already implemented system which uses RAM for the stored words, which obviously is based on the sequential search operation.
I want to replace this RAM with a Content addressable memory to make the search operation faster, but i didnt find any vendor who are selling ICs of the CAM just like the RAM ICs in the market.
Please suggest some vendors for the content addressable memory IC...
Use FPGA to write your own CAM. I think it will be hard to find one that you can interface with your system
This is "Associative addressing". Associative addressing means that data is not searched by address, but by content. Obviously, in this data acquisition process, it is necessary to search the contents of all memory cells in parallel and compare them with a reference value - the KEY that is part of the written information. The result of the selection is both the information and the list of addresses on which the value is found. If the content of multiple addresses is the same as the key, the so-called full associative memory provides an overview of these addresses. The length of the key may not generally agree with the length of the data word. The mask and the desired data value are the most commonly used for shaping. @Mohammad zakaria Masoud: There are a large number of different architectures available for FPGA based CAMs. Second is that deploying an FPGA in my system is a bit costly, thats why I am looking for a separate IC for CAM just like that available for RAMs.
