New technological solutions in the phase of increasing adoption are in almost all cases flanked and complemented by the development of standards. Standards in this context cover aspects such as the technology (e.g. how are certain elements to be interlinked, etc.), the quality, as well as the context around the technology (e.g. linked work and service procedures).
The development and introduction of construction robots comes along with a fast amount of uncertainties for all involved stakeholders: developers are not sure about the optimal development process, contractors need to be ensured about the quality of the solutions, workers and sub-contractors want to know how to adapt work processes so they fit with the robotic system, education and training of workers and professionally may have to be adapted, etc.
I think considering the increasing development activity around the world with regards to construction robots, we need to start to think about standards and associated assessment and certification schemes.
Any thoughts on This? Any idea if such standards are in the making already somewhere?
