I have a theoretical problem to melt a PCM in a transient heat transfer process. I have a PCM cube. The PCM is insulated from all sides, top surface of PCM is exposed to ambient conditions (defined convective heat transfer coefficient and ambient temp). Now the bottom surface, i can either keep it as constant heat flux or a constant surface temperature. I want to know how can i related these two boundary conditions, is there any mathematical relationship between the two. Is it possible to find an equivalent heat flux for a given constant surface temp or vice versa? Practically its selecting either an electrical heater (constant heat flux) on bottom surface vs a constant temperature hot plate.
