Connectivism is a hypothesis of learning which emphasizes the role of social and cultural context. In this sense, Connectivism proposes to see knowledge's structure as a network and learning as a process of pattern recognition. AlDahdouh, A. A.; Osório, A. J. & Caires, S (2015). This is very interesting and I think would be an exciting and innovative approach to what you are seeking to achieve. This also fits nicely with social or situated learning theoretical ideas.
And I am also interested to know more about the social elements of learning patterns not only in relation to learning characters/words, but the patterns recognised in the act of speech - i.e. connecting patterns of characters/words with patterns of facial/behavioural responses.

Thanks to the author! Connecting patterns in learning, especially in digital learning are very interesting, and can be useful.
Of course you can do an experiment to see if connectivism serve your students in learning Arabic language!
Actually, this is what I have almost done in my PhD project (see the link below). I have not finished the analysis yet, but apparently connectivism suits the best a certain kind of students who possess high self-regulation skills. Other students may find it extremely difficult to engage in such fully-connected environment. This is also the same conclusion I have reached theoretically in a recent article (Does Artificial Neural Network Support Connectivism's Assumptions?).
In the next months, we will publish the results of our study so others can make use of them.
