Dear all,

I am wondering to if there are clear types of equations to which one has to couple the phase field equation : d\phi/dt= - \delta F/\delta \phi where F is an anisotropic energy such as Kobayashi energy for dendrites. In classical dendrites, the phase is coupled to the equation for the temperature dT/dt=D\nabla^2 T- K*d\phi/dt.

Do dendrites appear in other contexts with a coupling to another variable that obeys another equation ?

Is there a possibility to replace the term - K*d\phi/dt by something else and still obtain dendrites ? For instance with reaction terms couplings ?

Thanks in advance
