I have a COMSOL simulation running well of the mixing of two water-based solutions in a microfluidics channel. I now needed to simulate a similar experiment but where the solutes are dissolved in water-based solutions of very different viscosities and densities. Any idea which physics modules best describe this scenario? I have found a lot of information on non-miscible fluids, but not on miscible fluids.
Maybe you should have a look at the "Chemical Species Transport" module in which there are the "transport of diluted species" and "transport of concentrated species". It will also help you to look at some examples in the model librairy such as the micromixer. You could also ask your question in a COMSOL forum. If you have an idea of the kind of equations you want to solve, you can also check them in the COMSOL interface.

Mass Transport
The Microfluidics Module provides a dedicated physics interface for transport of diluted species. It is used to simulate chemical species transport through diffusion, convection (when coupled to fluid flow), and migration in electric fields for mixtures where one component – a solvent – is present in excess (90 mol% or greater). It is typically employed to model the performance of mixers. For modeling chemical reactions in microfluidic devices, you can combine the Microfluidics Module with the Chemical Reaction Engineering Module, which also makes available transport of concentrated species with binary diffusion.
