This post is about usage of CRM.
Recently we published a new article Article Composite rating method: Application to European basketball leagues
While CRM was validated as a case study for basketball leagues, the same methodology can be applied and used in various fields starting from sports and ending with items quality estimation. In the article, we show that ELO rating inspired algorithms can be used not only for dynamic teams, like it is done in ELO ranking for computer games, but also static teams. In fact, CRM rating is made for players who rarely change teams. Using CRM we can estimate player and team strength, rank them and by applying sigmoid, similarly as ELO did it, estimate winning chance of Team A vs Team B, …
However, imagine that we have not just players and teams but machine parts, computer components, etc. By defining value (replacement cost or computing speed or so on) of each component, these items can be ranked in terms of quality, performance, etc.
I encourage you all to write your thoughts about this. What can be applications of such ratings in the futures, and what do you think about our suggested basketball ranking system, would it ensure fair contracts for players or is it just a bit too ambitious?
