So there is a WP online on empirical research and most of the data is in a free-access. So I go and check same data and find quite a few interesting variables for such dataset, at the same time WP seems to be quite average (no consistent hypothesis or findings of any kind)
What are the options now for me? Can I expect them to accept my ideas and cooperate or should I simply try to publish it myself (though not in near future, since I am still looking for Phd opportunities)

Hi, although I am still a student I would answer this way: go for it, as you do not loose anything but can only gain. It will only add up to your list of projects and from my experience I see that team projects are more efficient and less time burden- simply you will have the feeling of getting things done. And you will still be able to come up with the new or the follow - up idea for your PhD thesis proposal.
