I need to get a couple ultra-high purity Al pucks electropolished to a roughness of better than 10nm across 10x10 um^2. This can be done with perchloric acid and ethanol, but our fume hoods don't have the washdown capability to use the perchloric. I've been checking with commercial electropolishers though, and it appears they typically can't do better than 100nm roughness, though it appears they measure roughness ("finish") across much larger lengthscales and I'm not sure if they do a lot work with pure Al. Does anyone know of a company that can do this for us?
