I am performing Pushover analysis on a 12 storey building ising Etabs 2015. Resultant pushover curves are attached... How to improve the nonlinear behavior?
First, I must ask, what do you mean by "improve" the nonlinear behavior? It appears that you could continue the loading as the nonlinear aspect of the behavior still indicates that significant stiffness and resistance exists. Also, which displacement is the monitored displacement?
Thank you for answer... You mean I need to increase the total number of steps? or else I must increase the target displacement? currently I have taken it 2% of the building height.
Lastly if you look at the pushover curve for Py , the curve doesn't start from (0,0). How to fix this problem. (@Timothy Huff)
Are Py and Px the two horizontal directions? It would seem that the dead, permanent load is causing a lateral drift at the monitored displacement - this is one possible reason for the non-zero start point for Py. I would say that you should increase the target displacement, based on the appearance of the current pushover curves.
