What is the easiest way to make stable water dispersion of amine/acid coated magnetite nanoparticles synthesized by thermal decomposition? Generally they dispersed in hexane or chloroform. I want to avoid TMAOH because of its toxicity.
Thank you very much for the response. If I mix the chloroform dispersion of nanoparticles and water solution of PEG, and evaporate the chloroform at 80 degree C, will the nanoparticles get functionalized properly by PEG?
In addition to Mr. Riedinger, PEG is actually available commercially with wide range of molecular weights. PEG with weights are used for different applications, since they have difference physical properties. I would recommend researching literature for the specifics to your interest.
