I need to image mesoporous silica nanoparticles that are in ~100 nm size and do high resolution TEM to look at mesopores. what grids should I use?

Need to image mesoporous silica nanoparticles using the TEM. Also, need high resolution TEM images to see the mesoporous structure. Kindly suggest what kind of grids to use. Thanks, Shatadru

Hello Sehrish,

I have tried drying AuNPs so many times and only ended up with all sorts of aggregates. Freeze drying with cryo-preservatives worked fine.

I used 5% w/v sucrose or a maltodextrin.

Once you dry the nanoparticles in suspension they are no longer nanoparticles even if you add a cryoprotectant. Under an electronic microscope the partices will look fine but upon redispersion you will see beautiful aggregates.
