Did you try contacting the local clinic already? Otherwise I would suggest contacting a local or national newborn screening centeres. There is for example one in Leipzig (part of the Universitys clinic) and one in Munich (I know a technitian there). They usually use dry blood, but maybe they can direct you to someone who is able to provide such samples.

Thanks Thomas, I wrote to a couple of people that work in the local clinic here in Halle Saale and I will see what they will say. If you could maybe ask your technician friend about it that would be great as I think samples from within Germany would be ideal as the disease group is also German. I may have to use more than one clinic to get the number of samples required for appropriate statistical power.

I asked my fried: However, the really SOLELY use dry blood for the new-born screening, so no luck there. The rest of the analysis labs (which partially use serum) are screening for drugs, diseases etc. but of course in a mixed clientele (mostly adults). Since this is the case it would be easier to ask clinics themselves (or rather the paediatric stations) directly. I would recommend educational hospitals (belonging to universities etc.) since they may have studies going on themselves and have serum samples available.

I know, that the clinic in Erlangen is a clinic with a paediatric station, which is performing research, since we came in contact with someone from this clinic doing research on the skin barrier using mouse models a while ago. However, I don’t know, if anyone there may have a project going, using serum.

Thank you for your help and suggestions! I think I will wait and see if I get any responses back from the university hospital here. Or if anyone else answers this post with samples to share. Its for a side project so I have time to get a good cohort.
