when we saw a old article( At the time of 19th century)
They published articles without DOI number in journals. Even though they will get citation for it !
Nowadays, why we are looking for DOI number to cite an article ?
then, In case i publish an article without DOI number; How to get citation from others ?

Yes DOI number normally is required in citation. But it is not compulsory.
