16 year old female a known case of prematurity sequale with achilis tendon lengthening at age of 6
now presented with pain and numbness of left leg
by examination pyramidal sign all over
sensory impairement of ant thigh and leg
ncs show chronic tibial nerve injury
no history of trauma or infection
any suggestion?
Not exactly a case study that relates specifically to this, but I have a patient in her 50s that suffered a drop foot in 48 hours of her first symptom of weakness; multiple tests run and nobody was able to find any lesion until we had found a specialist that is known to be "the nerve doctor" in Santa Monica California. They were able to find a lesion at her peroneal nerve, and because of the long surgical demands, she had to wait surgery for two months because of Covid due to shortage of surgical centers. Once they went in, they found four ganglion cysts. She will certainly be written up as a case study for medical research since so many doctors missed the MRI scans and CT scans that she underwent before a diagnosis was made.
I thought I would share this in case somebody sees something like this. She is now in recovery, 10 days postop, and her extensor digitorum was able to withstand some resistance for the first time, extensor hallicus longus is trace, but anterior tib- zero.
