In the Chloroform fumigation extractiom (CFE) method, there is an assumption that only 50% of the microbial carbon is extracted. It would be beneficial to discuss this assessment and its significance in terms of the possible error, as well as the question whether the method has the extraction of non-microbial lipid material.
