The reason why we in the west fear chinese expansion is that we do not want to live under the chinese system of government. We are used to having rights and replacing our leadership whenever we feel that they have not done their job properly. This is not possible in China or Russia, which have never really moved beyond the feudal system. They just changed the names of their rulers and reinterpreted feudalism in post-industrial terms. That said, there are many wonderful things in Chinese culture, one of the most ancient on the planet, bursting with art, movies and culture. But they can keep their political system.
