Hi all,

We are currently trying to see if our sample represents the eligible population (criteria applied to the original whole population) and we can proceed with the analysis.

I'm not 100% sure if using the Chi-square homogeneity test to compare the population and the sample is okay. I've only seen homogeneity test examples where two or more subgroups are compared.

I heard the subgroups/samples shouldn't be more than 10% of the population; What we compare against is the population itself, so I'm not sure if we can do this. Shouldn't the two subgroups for a homogeneity test be independent?

Are there any research papers I can look into, which explain why or why not we can do this?

Thank you!
