I have developed a foam (refered to as f1) that qualitatively has more mechanical integrity than another foam (refered to as f2) I wish to compare it to. I have been struggling to find ways to quantify the differences between these two foams.
I have access to stress and strain controlled rheometers (however I am a novice in the field of rheology) but have struggled to get these machines to show a discernable difference between f1 and f2, any input as to tests to run that could highlight differences would be very appreciated.
Dear Mike, you can compare them corresponding to their physical attributes. While modulating them with external stimuli, keep your scale in the same footing which will make your analysis more fruitful and robust. Since you mention about rheometers, I will suggest you to look into PPMS analysis.
Hello Mike, have you tried oscillatory rheometry of your foams using a cup-in-vane geometry? You could obtain some interesting information by doing this test in your rheometer, as you mentioned their mechanical integrity are different.

Hello dear you can do a study of crosslinking (gel time) kinetic, activation energy. Furthermore, you can make others important characterizations for this material type such as DSC, TGA, mechanical properties, AFM, etc
