I am doing ORR reaction in KOH, but mostly time catalyst ink was peel off from the surface of GC electrode, while ink was prepared in nafion solution, water and ethanol. Kindly give suggestion ?
Dear Shadab Saifi , It is unclear where the problems arise; it may be due to the composition of the catalyst or the solvent mixture for ink. Please try with alternative solvent compositions, such as EtOH, isopropanol, and nafion (I recommend 5% conc) in 70:25:5. You can refer to any of our papers for further information. Best
Besides the previous answers, there are three things that I would be aware of:
1. It may be necessary to prepare the surface of your electrode to make sure it is clean and has the correct surface qualities for adhesion. One way to achieve this would be via plasma ablation.
2. Another possibility is that when you coat the electrode too much moisture gets trapped at the layer between the ink and the electrode. We are careful to recommend multiple thin layers to prevent this.
3. Last is that maybe the foam version of the carbon electrode is better suited to your type of test.
