Could anyone help me suggesting how to derive the highlighted outcome (OD = 12.6, 95%CI = 4.8-33.0) in attached figure. (Source: Table 1; N Engl J Med. 2011 April 21; 364(16): 1576–1577. doi:10.1056/NEJMc1013504)
This is perhaps adjusted odds ratios. You can not determine them without the database. Are you sure that there was no further information on any part of the table?
I could now derive the highlighted outcome 12.6 (4.8-33.0) for Univ. of Chic. group and 5.9 (4.4-7.8) for overall group. This seems not a case of covariant adjustment as logistic regression model was not applied. Possibly, it is a type-setting mistake and I just wanted to be sure.
I am also agree with you and this is a kind of type-setting mistake but odds rastio (9.7) from chic.group should move with (5.9) for the overall group.
