Well, if you are looking for a mathematical model for battery storage, you first link with your concepts from electrical engineering. Since the battery is used to store the energy and so the capacitor, hence your model equation will be having a capacitor. Also, no battery can be 100% efficient, it looses some of its energy as heat and hence resistor will come into the picture. Thus your circuit will be having a resistor and capacitor.
Now, you want your battery to give the best performance i.e maximum storage and minimum heat loss. Thus you need to find its optimal arrangement. Also it should have long life and minimum ripple factors. Thus considering these factors one by one you can proceed for a good model design.
