Great and workable ideas discussed at academic conferences often ends up at the conference venues. This makes many of our conferences hosted a waste of resources. Kindly share your views on strategies to send these ideas to the noses of policy makers for implementation. Research publication is a fine step coupled with written proposals to the offices of the policy makers.
Narrowing a Topic and Developing a Research Question which is related to the critical points of society by following academics and put the pressure to the responsible organizations
Write articles for newspaper or magazine. Use social media: blog, twitter, instagram, etc. Present in other seminars, workshops, or talkshows.
Usually good research ideas are discussed and vetted by experts in the field at such conferences.
Ideas are vetted by peers or colleagues. The more they deeply involved in the area, they are considered expert. Sometimes new ideas attract new person from outside their disciplinary field. Sometimes new ideas which are delivered in popular way can attract non-academic person.

Academic studies' language and ideas aren't familiar to local and central powers, and usually their reaction is negative and resistive, as it eventually comes to resources and money requirements. The only way to break this wall is to convert scientific and technological ideas into project plans with the help of economists, law specialists, and business communities.
That's allowing to convert uncertain outcomes of academic studies into financial balance sheets and the language common to authorities like a justifiable level of investment over a specified time, projected revenues time goals, legal justification, political consequences, etc.
Academics (scientific research community) need organizers that understand ideas supply chain management for their practical realization.
Academic conference is on way for reaching the policy makers. The irony is that policy makers make their way towards media, news and social impactful needs as a prominent focal points. Unless our research is aligned to people's problems, reaching the policy makers is a doubtful phenomenon.

When academics & policy makers are in isolated islands, then there will be very little advantages of the academic conferences (if there are any).
Let us be honest as scientists must be. In some countries, the academic conferences are held to show that the institutions' administrations are carrying out excellent jobs by supporting these meetings (i.e. propaganda). Many participants in the conferences aim at shaking hands with the top VIP who will be invited, touring places, getting some gifts, and eating free meals. Few academics usually present high quality work.
When the policy makers get proper education, they will know the worth or value of the academics more appropriately. After that, there will be hope that the recommendations of the academic conferences will be implemented.
Policy makers care a lot about money. Show the feasability of the idea including budget.

Can you suggest proactive ways of relaying great research ideas discussed at academic conferences to policy makers?
Perhaps following approach can be considered:
Policy makers see the outcome and whether the idea is feasible or not. Also timeline and methodology interest will be given preference.
I can hardly find the recommendations and outcomes of seminars and conferences being used as a blueprint by the policymakers. Initiatives from both sides required.
