Hello! I usually use a modified protocol of Qiagen's DNeasy Powersoil Pro (and the likes) for DNA extraction, adding phenol-chloroform-isoamyl alcohol (25:24:1, pH 8) to separate contaminant proteins, lipids, and cell debris from the DNA in the aqueous phase. Since the proteins go to the interphase and/or organic phase, it is theoretically possible to recover the proteins, right? Has anyone ever succeeded in doing so? Google didn't give me much results. Any inputs welcome!
I am thinking of following the Trizol instructions to precipitate proteins using isopropanol found here: https://assets.thermofisher.com/TFS-Assets/LSG/manuals/trizol_reagent.pdf
Thank you so much!
