The most common indication for THA includes:

1. End-stage degenerative hip osteoarthritis (most common)

2. Inflammatory arthritis, principally from rheumatoid arthritis

3. Osteonecrosis with segmental collapse of the femoral head

4. Displaced fractures of the femoral neck in patients older than 60 years

5. Congenital hip disorders including hip dysplasia

6. Less frequent indications for THR include primary or metastatic tumors of the hip joint and the residua of post-infectious arthritis
