I was wondering if that would be possible to combine research designs ( not research methodologies!). The goal of my study is to explore consumer behavior of gamers since there is not much research on it. I created a SEM model based on the previous literature in order to assess their behavior. Then I conducted quantitative survey to collect the data.
I know that Structural equation modeling (SEM) is a multivariate technique for testing and evaluating multivariate causal relationships that is used in science research.
On the other hand, the area that I am doing my research is not fully explored meaning I am doing an exploratory research.
I would appreciate if you mention an article using multi research design (again, not multi research methodology).

Yes. This is done in two steps. First you explore factors based on some literature. Then you can explore them via EFA. Confirm these variables using CFA. Further relationships can be proposed and tested using SEM.
I do think within the framework of 'mixed methods' approach, it is possible to do so @ Teymur Nabili . The earlier question and discussion on the same that a colleague @Mohialdeen Alotumi has pointed out is already enriching. In my view, it is helpful and in fact enriches employing such a mixed methods approach as the 'thick description' from qualitative in-depth research in the same context can either help better appreciate the the causality captured through a quantitative component or can help explain some of the patterns that are explained from quantitative data. It also may serve as a tool for internal validation of the findings. Overall, in my view, triangulation does help.
