A consideration of the potential recyclable use of plastic...I believe that it is impossible to completely do without plastics in the years to come and that such material still has its place in a green modern society.
Plastic may be good alternative to glass in windows and doors. Plastic showed with its performance better characteristics in:

- Weathering.
- Strength.
- Resistance to mould growth.
- Safety
- Thermally efficient
- Cost
- Premium finish
- Creative designs - colored
- Weight
- Durability
- Manufacturing
- Easy to use
So, I think the future will be plastic one.
When you consider to replace glass with plastic in a greenhouse, you need to think a long term performance under thermal influence. Glass might be better. However, plastic perhaps can be a good option when weight saving is desirable. Plastic is also great choice to resist impact.
Sure, replace a readily recyclable material with one that is hard, if not impossible, to recycle.
