Can we use Selenite F broth media instead of Nutrient broth for reviving culture of microorganisms like P. aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Micrococcus spp. and Serratia marcescens?
Selenite broth is used as a selective medium for the isolation of Salmonella species. Gram positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus and Micrococcus, and P. aeruginosa should be inhibited. But Pseudomonas tend to grow. Enterobacteriaceae as Proteus tend to grow and Serratia could grow.
My first question is why did you think of using Selenite as a medium component for reviving Pseudomonas? May you have found some thing from literature survey which you would like to share with me (at least) if not with any other people. I appreciate your line of thinking which is something which many researchers would not do.
