I always thought that one benefit of using MANOVA is to avoid inflating the risk of Type 1 error that might occur by conducting, say, multiple t-tests. However, I’ve since found a few places where people advise using a correction such as Bonferroni to alpha values of the univariate tests that follow the multivariate test. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get a [semi] definitive answer? (I’ve got 4 DVs.)
