We find that there are binding similarities between families of ligands and families of receptors -- what is your opinion on this phenomenon and its purpose? My initial thoughts are that the desired signal is controlled by the recipient-cell-receptor under transcriptional access parameters, and that the possibility to send that signal is conferred by the ligand-source-cell's transcriptional network -- thus if a cell wants WNT signaling under its natural development, it will have at least one form of WNT-receptor available under transcriptional potential; and from this, the cell will expect a signal from a source cell producing the subtype of WNT that is within its own contextual potential.

Any thoughts on this?
