Calcined Kaolin between 550-800 degree C is carried out to remove inter-layer crystalline water using rotatory kiln. Can we carry out the same process using microwave? Will it produce the same effect? Will be more efficient in dehydration of Kaolin or not?

actually the best way to obtain very reactive metakaolin is from flash kiln calcining at 750°C not rotary kiln. Calcining is obtained in few seconds in this way. Material after this kind of burning is super reactive and could be used for geopolymerization with the best properties.
Rotary kiln at 1150°C is also used to produce metakaolin less reactive ( there is less reactive Alumina because starts mullite crystallization) for cementitious products as artificial pozzolana to stabilize hydrolysis lime from hydration of Portland or to stabilize hydrate lime in plasters.
Pozzolanic index is interesting for lime stabilization not for Geopolymet technology.
I don’t know if microwave could be used because of energy costs principally , thinking at industrial scale. By the way should be interesting to check but maybe only at university level could be investigated.
