I am an engineering student with a thesis about plastic waste behaviour in a certain conditions of surface water. I am now attempt to make an artificial surface water with the certain amount of BOD as my primary parameter. Is that possible to make an artificial with a certain BOD quality which I need to make, and is there any recipe that I can follow?

Based on BOD , it is not possible to prepare artificial surface water.
In addition to all parameters that should be thought to simulate the closest to what occurs on the water surface. Which seems to be very difficult to do. As for the container, I believe that it would be of very large dimensions because for small scale it would not be efficient. I believe that the great challenge is to simulate in this container the interactions that occur in the body of water and that depend on the depth, for example, water currents and temperature difference.
One tip for your job is to look for softwares that simulate this type of analysis or the focus could be to develop software.

I think that it is impossible because of many factor affect the BOD level like attach with atmosphere.
Although its bit difficult but atleast you can try. Suppose u want a specific BOD then check for amount of organic matter you need to add to water sample. You can check for bod of milk products which are easily available and is around 400-500mg/lt
Thank you for all the answers, i've been working based on those answers in late month. But I still need at least one journal who stated the dairy product as substitute for BOd concentration, is there any paper who stated about that? As far as I search, I have not find it yet.
