Can we heat CTAB extraction buffer including beta mercaptoethanol in microwave?
Yes you can. But it will heat quickly so make sure you leave the container open and wear goggles.
Best regards
In our experience there is no problem with the heating of the extraction buffer with beta mercaptoethanol. I agree with Dr. Soner's answer
No problems, just don't let it boil over. Beta mercapoethanol smells horrible, but it's not damaging to smell it.
Dear Shazia
Always when working with chemicals you have to read their safety data sheets in order no know their toxicity and proper handling. Mercaptoethanol IS TOXIC and VOLATIL it SHOULD NOT BE INHALED continuously. Here it safety data sheet
