Yes, but it would help if you can ask the editor of the journal where the paper was accepted to assign a DOI to the paper, so that you can begin to cite it properly (it is in the journal's best interest as well...).
Yes, definitely! Journal articles accepted for publication but not published should be referred to as “in press”. The “in press” category includes manuscripts about which the authors have received written notification from the journal that they have been accepted for publication following the journal’s pre-publication procedures such as peer review. For example, you may write:
Shylaja, P.V and Thomas, C, G. 2004. Efficacy of pre-emergence herbicides for weed control in cocoa seedling nursery. J. Plant. Crops 32(2) (in press).
Do not forget to update the publication status of the work before your paper or thesis is submitted.
Most journals accept that, but few do not. They usually state clearly in the references section in their author guidelines whether citing accepted articles is permitted or not. If yes, they mentiin how it should be done. If assigned DOI, this maes the job easier. If not, you can cite them and write at the end (in press) within brackets. Therefore, you should refer to the author guidelines of the journal you want to submit you before doing so.
