Vortex can simulate two models of inbreeding depression, i.e. the overdominance model (= heterozygote advantage), and dominance model (= recessive deleterious mutations). The genetic load caused by overdominance effects cannot be purged by inbreeding, whereas recessive lethal alleles can be purged by inbreeding.
