I am currently conducting research on slow-release urea fertilizers and need to determine the urea content in my samples. Based on my literature review, most methods for urea determination involve the use of complexing agents prior to analysis. However, I found a study that directly measures urea without complexation at a wavelength of 278.5 nm using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. I would like to ask whether this method is sufficiently accurate and applicable for urea determination in fertilizer samples. Are there any specific factors that should be considered when using this direct approach without complexation?
