I am analyzing the throughput of 802.15.4 for heterogeneous traffic. My simulation (in ns2) gives higher throughput than the results from my analytical modeling.
sure you can. this might be a factor of the capacity limitations in the analytical model, or might be a route choice query in the simulation model. Alternatively, there might be a small factoring value to your demand feeding into the simulation.
Analytical models os complex systems tend to be a limited appraisal of real operating conditions, whereas simulation can (partly) overcome such limitations
Since I work with airports, my perspective can be a limited one, for I was never able to see a analytical model that provided a better operational description of airport operations than a simulation one. Of course large airports can be considered complex systems requiring a large number of interrelated variables. Bt, of course, this can be a limited perspective of mine.
