Can the equilibrium concentration of a solute in water resulting from activated carbon adsorption be determined on a theoretical basis only using certain equations or correlations? If there is such an equation or correlation could you provide it to me? I looked into the literature available but the equations that I found cannot calculate it. Looking forward to your answer.
Dear Simon, the best theoretical equation to describe an adsorption isotherm are the Langmuir, Freundlich, and BET equation. These equations require and experimental adjustment. Normally, the parameters for these equations could be found in the literature.

Try to estimate the residual concentration of the solution. It will provide you better information about the adsorption capacity.

Provided you have the experimental equilibrium constants at the desired temperature previously determined either by you or in the literature, you can calculate the theoretical equilibrium concentration using Langmuir or Freundlich type isotherms.
