For my samples, the metals ions are dissolved in 50 mM HEPES buffer (4-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1-piperazineethanesulfonic acid), and I would like to run them on the ICP-AES. But the lab technician told me that they are not compatible for ICP measurement because the HEPES will introduce large amounts of carbon are deposited on the torch that leads to a breakdown of the RF field and a collapse of the plasma. But I read from some papers that they used ICP to measure such samples directly. I was wondering if I can run them directly on the ICP or some pre-treatment for the samples is needed to make them suitable for ICP measurement. Any suggestion is welcomed. Thanks.
