Our lab does not have a dedicated CO2 incubator for bacterial work. If someone could suggest whether Anaerobic kits will be able to achieve this ? If yes, How to check the level of percentage CO2 in the chamber?
You can get about 6% with CO2 Gen from Oxoid (Code: CD0025). These jar systems are very good. If you want cheap or to grow just a few you could alway use a candle jar, it gets the CO2 level to about 2-3%. We used to grow Neiserria gonorrhoeae like that for the students and it grows well. If you want to grow lots of cultures I would recommend buyung an incubator, the jars take up a lot of space and the kits are expensive over time.
I agree with Chandra and Fortunate. The candle-jar method should be enough for most microorganisms. I used successfully it over 20 years ago when we did not stoves CO2
